A Sickly Week

This past week has been, for lack of a better word, eventful. Aidie had her first real bout of illness- complete with fever and vomiting. It was awful. I hated seeing Aidie so miserable. I was out of work all week (including today) to nurse her back to health. Today is the first day without a touch of fever! Thank goodness! I was starting to be a little nervous it would never go back to normal. The great thing is that she has been so wonderful throughout the whole thing. I couldn't ask for a more wonderful child. Still a big smile and laugh for littlest things even with a stuffy nose and high temp. What a trooper!
While I thought she may have developed a dislike of Cheerios without giving them a chance, she has changed her mind. Today, she decided that they weren't too bad after all!
We also did Aiden's first maple syrup experience. Saturday we went over to Mark and Kathy's to help put together jugs and collect the first samplings. Aidie got her very first taste of sugar maple water. She thought it was pretty cool! Unfortunately, we were supposed to attend the actual syrup party the next day and Aidie came down with a fever while we were there! So we had to leave rather early. Very sad, as she was getting a chance to play with a baby friend, as well as Uncle Matt and Megan. Maybe next time...Exploring the tree spout

Aidie's first taste of Sugar Maple water... a Wisley tradition!

We also have an accident update. My husband's cousin was saying in her blog that she had her first parenting fail with Ella busting her lip. Well, I guess today was out turn. I was on the other side of the counter from Aiden making up a bottle when *CRASH* she turned over her push toy and blood was pouring out of her mouth. After some clean up I discovered a slight cut on her gums by her top right tooth and a busted lip. Poor thing is swollen but taking it great. I finally got her to chew on a icy teether and it took down the swelling a bit thank goodness! It looks awful. I feel so terrible, but I guess it has to happen to every kid at least a few times. With as independent as she is, I'm surprised this is the first major incident.
Talking to her reflection... she sure loves that little girl!

Aiden loves her magnets!

Cheerios may be good, but duck is better!

Hanging out with mommy after our lip incident... so brave!

She had the best time roll the water jugs across the floor! Why we buy her toys, I do not know!

Little Tidbits

Aiden is absolutely in love with electronics. So she thinks "photobooth" is pretty darn cool. We took some adorable pictures. I just love her little smile. What I like to call her "hippo teeth" just make her smile all the cuter! Baby love!

After a month of ice and snow, we finally made it back to the elder Wisley residence. We had lots of fun with Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma just loved her little dress. 12- 18 month clothes!!!

We tried our hand at eating whole fruit. She was so cute with plum all over her face! Super tasty!

Dedicated to little Iroh Ji Redder Rust, the newest of the bunch!

Welcome to the world, little Iroh! Posing here is the new little family- My cousin Jessie, her husband Jared and baby Iroh-Great Papaw Champlin just loves his Aidie Girl!

All of the cousins and second cousins!

Aidie cuddling with her Grammy!

Aidie just loved patting him on the head! So cute!

This is yet another dedication! We were fortunate enough to meet Aidie's new little cousin this past weekend, Iroh Ji Redder Rust. He is so sweet. We absolutely loved him. Of all of his names, I think Dan and I have taken a liking to "Redder" the most! It's just so spunky for a mild mannered little guy. Just like his mommy and daddy. I think it will be a peaceful household!
Aidie actually took an interest in him (I wasn't sure how she would react). We have been practicing with a baby doll- after the bopping Ella incident, I thought it best :( She did pretty well. She wanted to pat him on the head and only got a little overzealous and the face a couple of times. Fortunately, we've been working on "gentle hands". So she didn't get him very hard. It was so fun to watch her interact with another baby. This past week has really been the first time she has been around children younger than herself and she's done fairly well! We visited with lots of family and had a very nice time.

This post is dedicated to Carlin!

So I had just gotten outside and into my car after depositing Aidie at daycare when I get a text from my mother saying- "If you could have any highchair, what would it be?" My first thought is: "Oh no! She saw the post from a week ago and saw we still haven't purchased a highchair! Now she's going to buy one!" Well, that evening, my parents stop by and tell us the news: My mother's friend Carlin, whom she used to work with, said that she wanted to go on an Aidie shopping spree. Carlin saying that she didn't have any little ones to shop for, really wanted to do this. She determined an amount and off they went. So, to Carlin, all I can say is "Wow! You are the sweetest, most giving person! I never thought anyone could rival my mother! I'm so glad that she found someone so like her to have as a friend!"
We all had lots of fun and you get to see the pictures!
Aidie loved "nesting" this little contraption. Tons of fun, all in one!

Here is Aidie sitting in her new highchair, grinning like crazy because she has a rattling ball and a spoon and tons of people smiling at her. If only she would stay this easy to please!

Here we are playing with our ball! She loves rolling it!

Cheesy picture in the mounds of stuff!

Patting the toy! It's for me!

Enjoying breakfast in the new highchair the next morning! With Cainy too!

Did someone say FOOD FIGHT!?!

Well, not exactly, but it kind of looks like they did. Aidie took her first major attempts at feeding herself with a spoon tonight and it was super adorable (and MESSY!). She loves peas (best for squishing). So that was an automatic bonus for the evening. But I let her get her hands in her wheat cereal, which was oh so gooably delectable. Once we figured out we could put peas on the cereal in the spoon and then into our mouth... it was game on dinner time with a spoon! Yippee for big steps, Aidie!

Oh... and did I mention that Caina loves peas too?

Dan and I decided it was time to make another baby...

A SNOW BABY that is! Since it is Aidie's first winter, Dan was dying to make a snowman with Aidie. Unfortunately, by the time we got around to it, there was only enough snow for a little bitty one. So we made a snow baby instead :-) Enjoy the process, as well as a surprise goodie at the end!

Holding the beginning of the snowbaby- Aidie's first snowball!

All of the snowbaby participants squeezing into the photo.

Even the doggies came out for a romp in the snow.

Daddy- adding on the second snowball

Here we are with our finished snowbaby! It's even about Aidie's size!

Our little family with our babies. LOL.

Love this picture of me and Aidie :-)
As for other updates: Aidie had her first day at daycare yesterday. It was... rough... Apparently about five minutes after I left she cried and cried. She refused to let anyone hold her and only wanted to sit in her crib with her moose (thank goodness we packed him). I really don't know what to do. I'm sure it will get better and it was a substitute in for her regular teacher that day, since her teacher was sick. I just keep thinking that we'll just be doing this all over again tomorrow with a new person. I think the substitute was a little scared of her... or me... I can't tell, but she seemed so timid and didn't once try to hold her while I was there. So I'm sure Aidie will feel much better on Thursday with her real teacher.
Aidie is now walking, albeit a bit unsteadily, only holding onto one of our hands. She prefers two, but can do one. So I forsee independent walking in the near future. Boy will we be in trouble then!
A sweet note: Aidie has a habit of crying in her sleep that just breaks my heart. When I put her down for a nap today, she giggled in her sleep- like she was having a good dream. Totally made my day! Speaking of bedtime- Dan came in last night to kiss her goodnight before I put her down and as he walked out the door she waved at him and said "bye bye". No prompting! Association!
I took Aidie for her first Psychology experiments the other day and she did very well. The Psych building is always looking for child volunteers. So we thought we would participate! She did one where she reached for a hidden toy in a box after it had been place in different parts several times. She did fine with this and reacted well for her age. We watched a power point after this, where she was supposed to look at shapes and cartoons to see how she focused. They were extremely pleased with this part, saying that she payed attention so well. Much better than expected! She apparently has a good attention span. That's good news!
And now for the surprise at the end of the update- Bathtime was hysterical, and I just had to share! Our very own little "Whovilian"! Who, for a verbal update, said "bathtub" during this exciting affair. TWO SYLLABLES!

Ice Days

We spent the last couple of days stranded at my parents' house during this despicable ice storm. It may have been terrible sleep with the power going out every night and sleeping on a futon, but we got some really adorable pictures! Enjoy :-) While we were there, Aiden took a fancy to my father's stuffed moose. She loves cuddling with him. I've never seen her so affectionate with an inanimate object. I guess we've found her comfort object!

Our first morning... somebody is obviously sleepy!

Dan snuck Aidie's hat on her head. She is just so darn cute with it on, but she hates wearing anything on her head.

Aiden has recently discovered her echo. She puts her face into everything and makes hysterical noises. I love it!

Aidie and Grampy had fun watching Grammy feed the birds.

Aiden loves playing with cookie cutters (at least the kid friendly, plastic ones). Lately, we have had a lot of fun looking through holes at one another. She thinks it's so fun!

We call this Grammy's pony. Makes Aiden laugh like crazy.

Our little family having a few laughs during our imprisonment.

Aiden loves petting the puppy... and she is using such gentle hands with her now. I'm so proud!

And of course, we had to spend some time in a laundry basket ;-)
